Shaver Lake
Last weekend we were invited to a beautiful cabin with my parents up in Shaver Lake. It was so quaint and cozy, and such a nice get-a-way! The backyard was so ideal and relaxing. I would come back to this cabin anytime (as long as we don't drive the same road up, which was supposed to be shorter but in reality was much longer and more nauseating!).
We got to hike to a waterfall...
And play around in and on some gigantic trees...
And go fishing...
And this is for all your viewing pleasure! Some of you may have seen a video on my facebook, but this one is from my camera, the one on facebook is from my mom's, this one is just as funny!

Finally!
Guess What?!? After two long years of living here, we finally got our replacement microwave for over the stove. I am especially excited because we recently had to get rid of our counter top microwave and I've been at a loss without a microwave. I couldn't make popcorn! And I know you can reheat food on the stove or in the oven, but that's so much more of a hassle and it heats up the entire apartment! So needless to say, I'm smiling on the inside and outside because I can now return to my habits of microwaving, and on a side note, I now have an exhaust fan to suck up the steam from pots AND a light for over the stove. This is the life!

Happy Birthday Dad!
It was my dad's birthday last Sunday, but tonight I get to see him. So, I made him a birthday cake. I'm pretty happy with the results, but it could have been better. I tried to improvise with what I had on hand.

I'm just excited to see my family, and to be able to celebrate my dad's birthday. He's the best, most amazing father in the world. He always put me and my brother first and has sacrificed a lot to make us and my mom so happy. He's a true gentleman, always opening doors, whether it be the car or house, for me and my mom. He's the most considerate and compassionate man, full of love, courage, strength, creativity, and adventure. I truly look up to him as a remarkable example of what a man should be and do. He always puts his family first and I feel so lucky to be his daughter!
Love you Dad!

*He's still the same happy person as when he was a baby*

Sheet Peeve
Have you ever noticed that sheets don't fit mattresses very well? It's so irritating! They aren't wide enough to actually tuck under the mattress on the sides, however, I frequently have about 4 feet of sheet tucked under the bottom. Why is that? I would like someone to design a sheet that has an even amount of sheet to tuck under all sides, they could take two feet from the bottom and then add a foot to each side. Is it seriously that difficult? That's enough of a rant for today, just had to share.
