Cherry Picking

I LOVE fruit! Everyone who knows me knows that, and the BEST thing about living in California is the fresh fruit, and on special occasions being able to pick my own. So this memorial day weekend my parents and I decided to go Cherry picking and it was so fun! We picked 50 pounds, yes, I know that's a lot, but we shared with all the family and extended family and cherries are only in season once a year, so we have to stock up while we can...here are some pictures from our fun times.

Can I just say that I love my dad, he just makes me smile whenever I see him and I love how he comes across in pictures. I think this picture is my favorite picture of my dad currently. He's just so cute! And he's such a big kid, he actually started climbing the tree when the ladder wasn't good enough.

The orchard was Pease Ranch in Brentwood. Their trees were great because they weren't too tall and the cherries were amazing. It was opening weekend for cherry picking. They also had an assortment of berries to pick, but we didn't have time to do those, so maybe next year...

And I just loved this sign! So original!

South Lake Tahoe

Brad travels a lot for his job, he seems to either be going on-site to check on his projects or he's at a conference somewhere. Sometimes, those conferences are good, because I get to come along and check out the local scenery. My favorite is Monterey, just because the place he stays at is magically beautiful. I also got to go with him to L.A. last September. Well, this time it was in South Lake Tahoe and I was so excited! I love Tahoe! It was unusually cold there for it being May, but I had a good time anyway. Our room was nice, you could tell it was an older hotel/room, but we had a great view of the Lake.

We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, it was pretty good...

...then we had some fun at the arcade, this arcade was probably by far one of the best arcades found in a casino.

I had a lot of work to do for my final project at school so I hunkered down and worked many hours, but it was so much easier to work when I had this kind of view, rather than at home!

There were lots of neat things to see around our hotel and down the main street. This is a zoomed in version of one of the light fixtures.

One night we were invited to dinner with some business people who know Brad. It was THE BEST salmon I've ever had and probably the MOST expensive dinner I've ever had. We ate at the Chart House and I ordered a Miso Salmon and it was just amazing! We ended up staying out super late at dinner, but it was fun and I will never forget it! Good weekend!

sad but true

So I'm sitting here in a library cubicle at school and the guy in the cubicle kitty corner from me is just sitting there. Now this is the sad part. Due to the crazy people and events that have happened in my life starting with Columbine when I was in like 7th grade, I have become the most uncontrollably paranoid and suspicious person in the world. Because you know what my first thought was?...that he is a suicide bomber targeting all the smart engineers at CalPoly and that dumb ipod he's listening to is a detonator. Okay, now totally irrational fears are surfacing. I think I watch too much TV too.

So, that's the sad but true story of the day. Many people, including myself, have become judgemental, suspicious, paranoid people due to society and the events which have occurred in the past 10 years. I'm sure this guy is a really nice guy, and if he really were targeting the engineers then he wouldn't be here in the library in the governmental document section. But I still think it's weird he's sitting here in these cubicles with just his ipod, not doing anything, he still has his jacket on for heaven's sake! Take a load off and find a couch or something to relax in, not these less than comfy chairs from the 60's!

That's it for this post. I'm going to try not to jump to conclusions with every person that I see, that's my goal for today, to stop thinking everyone is out to kill everyone else.

Hope everyone else is having a fabulous Wednesday!
