We decided to hike a big loop all the way around hitting both "caves" which were kind of a disappointment, but it was fun and it kept us busy. So here's us at various points of the hike and some scenery
We like to make a game out of our hikes, probably not consciously, but we always end up trying to keep track of all the different wildlife we see and sometimes even the flowers. This trip we saw quite a variety of wildlife, including rabbits, squirrels, birds (one of which was a California Condor), snakes, lizards, a deer from across the creek, it seems like there was more, but that's all I can remember for now. We did see a lot of beautiful flowers too.
So, after a long exhausting day we went back to our camp site. My favorite part of camping is the campfire. I have a love hate relationship with it. I love it because it's so warm in those chilly nights and I get to cook marshmallows to make smores and I love the smell of campfire. I hate how it makes you and all your clothes smell for days afterwards, and I hate how fires have so much ash and the constant change in wind direction blows that ash everywhere, there's no safe seat around the campfire. The best part of this particular campfire...
...the smores we made, because they weren't just any smores, they were Peeps smores. Yes, we heard that the sugar on the peeps caramelizes on the outside making your smore that much more decadent, so we had a little sacrificial ritual before we partook of the most yummy campfire smore ever!
Overall, it was a fun trip and we look forward to more camping trips this summer. Good thing my mom stocked up on smores...because once you start eating those toasted bunnies, you just can't stop.
